“EOC: Amazing Place & Amazing People”A friend of mine and I spent a glorious weekend at the EOC back in mid-August. We had a wonderful, relaxing time.
To begin, the house was AMAZING. The details, energy, and design made for an excellent stay. Bobby and Shelley have made a wonderful contribution and commitment to reduce the impact we have on the environment and our stay there reflected this holistic approach. It felt good to be a part of that commitment and to support them in their endeavors.
We especially loved the kitchen and made many meals there. It was fully equipped and cooking was a pleasure. We equally enjoyed the private pool off the living room and the hammock! Despite not being available to provide a massage herself, Shelley made arrangements for me and I was able to enjoy a massage outside, next to the pool.
The beds were incredibly comfortable and we really enjoyed having the monkeys swing in in the morning. What a show from the window facing the ocean! Speaking of the ocean, it was so nice to see it from the back of the villa and we loved the short walk it took us to get there. It’s an easy walk along the beach from the villa to the heart of Manuel Antonio.
As I already mentioned, Shelley and Bobby were wonderful hosts. We arrived pretty early for check-in and Shelley greeted us and allowed us to store our bags in the villa, put food in the fridge, and change to head down to the beach while the staff readied the villa. Thank you to Bobby for his offer and hospitality in driving us up the hill to dinner at Raphael’s at night and in the rain (Raphael’s was fantastic, by the way!). Thank you also to Carlos, the grounds manager, who is so nice. He checked in on us and gave us information about the place and the sights around. Needing to practice my Spanish, he was very accommodating and patient!
My plan in the future is to organize my family and book the other villa (and any others built in the future) for a week. EOC is wonderful as are the beautiful people who brought it to life and care for it. Thank you!

“Beautiful Vacation Home!”
Wow, what a find! We only were passing through and stayed for a short 2 nights, however we can’t wait to back to Manuel Antonio and stay at EOC! The home is absolutely beautiful with it’s modern design and location is amazing! Beach front with access to a wonderful beach, wild life all around us was a plus as well. Having the owners Bobby and Shelly and there adorable children living on the property as well was so nice and made us feel so at home. They are there for anything that you might need! Words cannot describe how magnificent of a property this is to stay at! PURA VIDA!
“EOC is THE place to stay in Manuel Antonio”
After spending 2 weeks at EOC, our family fell in love! The location, with true beach frontage, is unparalleled in the area. The only place I’ve ever been that is more beautiful in person than in the photos. The villas are impeccable in every way (design, functionality, etc.). Words can’t describe how amazing onsite proprietors Bobby and Shelly Workman are – They complete the perfect package. In fact, it’s so spectacular a find that my only worry is they won’t have availability the next time we want to visit!

“A spectacular escape to a pristine ecological wonderland”
Manuel Antonio is everything the travel guides say, and more. It is clean, fresh, exotic, natural–we saw sloths and lizards, monkeys and spiders. The beach was spectacular, and although it was rainy season, the weather was very pleasant for most of our trip.
Espadilla Ocean Club is a relatively new property, but it is positioned to be one of the hottest destinations in the region. The villas are spacious and artfully designed, and they are a stone’s throw from the beach. Very few properties in Quepos/MA are truly beachfront, but at Espadilla, you can run to the beach for an hour or two and then head back to your villa and relax on the deck or by the plunge pool. Such luxury!
Shelley was a wonderful hostess, and Bobby was very helpful as well. Even the maids and the security guards were warm and welcoming. My wife and I felt right at home from day one.
I’ve had the privilege to vacation at properties in 14 different countries, and I’ve experienced a wide range–from high-end luxury to bare-bones backpacker culture. But I can say with confidence that my trip to Espadilla Ocean Club was my all-time favorite vacation. My wife, Heidi, agrees.
“Best location in the Manuel Antonio area”
I just spent two weeks in Costa Rica at the Espadilla Ocean Club with my family (me, my husband and 2 kids, ages 6 and 4) and had a great experience. The villas are exceptional….modern, clean, comfortable and really beautiful. They left out no detail in designing and building these villas. Downstairs is a full kitchen, sitting area and bathroom. Upstairs there are 2 comfortable bedrooms, one with a loft that could sleep an adult or 2 kids comfortably. The view from the upstairs king bedroom is exquisite….right down to the Pacific Ocean. If you look up into the trees, there is also a good chance you will see monkeys. From the kitchen downstairs, you look out over the convenient (and welcomed) splash pool, deck, and towards the ocean as well. AC is available, but not necessary during the day. We kept the doors and windows open and had a great breeze that cooled things off.
The managers of the EOC live on site and are extremely helpful. They were always available for questions and their recommendations (for trips, restaurants, etc) were spot on. They booked all our adventures for us and gave us all the necessary information so we could be ready and have everything we needed for the trips. They are both completely fluent in English and Spanish and couldn’t be nicer.
The location of the EOC is spectacular. It sits right in the middle of a one mile stretch of beach. The south part of the beach borders the Manuel Antonio reserve. I would run in the mornings or evenings (depending on the tide) on the beach. My Garmin marked one half-mile out each way on the beach, so I would get a 2 mile run in easily. I felt safe running by myself. The beach is about a one minute walk out your back villa door, making access to the beach and back to the villa very easy. With kids, it was helpful to be able to easily walk back to the villa for something forgotten or a quick break. Not only is the beach accessible, so is the rest of the town. It was a few minutes drive to any of the restaurants we went to or to the park. I really don’t think there is a better location for a place to stay in the area.
We plan to return to this area each summer and will stay with the EOC for sure. It is the perfect location, spectacular villas and superb service. Highly recommended.

“An amazing place!!”
We were so lucky to come across this place. This villa has stunning panaromic views of the beach and jungle canopy. The location is excellent. You can walk to the beach in a matter of seconds. It’s also very close to restaurants and the park.
This place is brand new. It’s very clean and it’s so beautiful. We felt that the villa itself is literally a work of art. From the master bedroom you can wake up watching the monkeys play in the trees and look out another window and see the ocean. True paradise.
The owners Bobby and Shelly are so nice. They gave us a lot of information about restaurants and activities.
We would highly recommend this to anybody. Enjoy your travels!!
Ideal location and immaculate villa. The master bedroom full-width window toward the ocean was amazing. We picked up fresh mangos and coconuts from the trees right outside. The hosts went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. They also had really good advice on other things to do in the area. You are guaranteed to see sloths, monkeys, iguanas, etc.
The people of Costa Rica were so nice and everything was very convenient. Road improvements make driving effortless – even easier than in many U.S. locations! Espadilla Beach is a very family-friendly place. Nearby Manuel Antonio Park and its beaches are a must see. I would stay here again without a second thought. It is a huge place. If I came back, I would bring some friends to share the experience.

“Our wonderful stay @ Espadilla Ocean Club”
I cannot say enough about the convenient location and physical condition of our villa. The very short distance to the beach was perfect. Once all Villas are complete, we hope to go back with another family or two. We were there with our two teenage kids (13 & 16) and they were able to come and go as they wished. The villa was very roomy but cosey enough to enjoy our family time. The kids loved it. The beach is beautiful. We enjoyed costa rican meals prepared for us. The Hosts planned many activities for us and were so helpful. We enjoyed the Ocean King catamaran trip, as well as zip-lining. Thank you Bobby & Shelley – we hope to be back soon.

“Beautiful home and the most helpful and nice hosts you can imagine”
My husband, 3 year old daughter, and I spent 6 nights here. The host couple and their children live behind the villa. They provided a perfect balance of giving us space when we wanted, and giving us company and information when we wanted it. And our daughter had fun playing with their adorable girls. They set up everything we needed (booked our outings, suggested restaurants, arranged cabs, etc) and they also had the villa cleaned each day while we were out. What a treat to a full house with all the care and services you would receive from a nice hotel. And they are so nice, I really felt like I was leaving friends when we left.
As for the house, it was new and very beautiful. Clearly it was designed with an artistic eye. Monkeys frequented the trees outside the villa, it was so fun to watch them from the pool below or from the upstairs windows. And I loved watching the waves from the living room or hammock as I had my morning tea. The location is perfect, just a 30 second walk to the beach. I’m so glad we chose to stay on the beach, since I didn’t notice any facilities on the beach, and this would have been difficult with our child. And since there are almost no beachfront properties in MA, you should chose this one! It was also perfect that we didn’t have to rent a car. It was 5 min walk to the state park, a few minutes to the main town in MA, and a 2 min walk to the bus stop that had very simple inexpensive reliable transportation up the hill to restaurants, butterfly farm, more shopping, and Quepos town.
“Great location, property and owners!”
Our family of 5 spent 4 nights here in this amazingly peaceful place. After searching for hotels near the beach because we didn’t rent a car, we were so happy to find this perfect place. It is right next to the beach so our teenaged kids could walk to town/shops on their own.
My husband and I went for early morning walks on the gorgeous beach and we all walked into MA national park to spend the day hiking and swimming at the beaches there.
The villa was well equipped and the friendly owners were so helpful in setting us up with surf lessons and other activities, restaurant recommendations as well as making sure we had everything we needed.
They really went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. Our kids enjoyed the loft beds and the spider monkeys eating mangoes out the window in the nearby trees. The beds are really comfortable and it is so light inside. We ate out most nights but did go to the market in Quepos and cooked dinner in the kitchen with friends one night for a change. We will certainly return for another get away!
